The vessel is glazed with a glaze that does not fit the clay - in other words, the glaze expands and contracts at different rates and temperatures to the body of the clay. this causes it to crackle and crack. then Indian ink is rubbed into the piece and wiped off. It is then re-fired with a clear glaze. These pieces are contemporary - machine made with highly sophisticated technology. |
