Lisa Liebermann is a narrative potter who uses the vessel as her primary medium for storytelling. Her work is layered and immersive — each piece holds something around the corner, a hidden element of surprise that rewards closer looking. You can turn it, look inside, fill it and empty it again. The vessel, she believes, expresses time differently to our linear calendars: it turns like the earth, reflecting the cyclical nature of seasons.

Her art draws on archetypal myths tied to changes in the sky, capturing fleeting moments through personal responses and traditional astrological meaning. Mark-making has been at the core of her practice since childhood, when her mother taught her to draw in the sand with a stick. Everything, she says, begins with a pencil.

Clay is second nature to Lisa. She sees deep parallels between humans and pots: both are vessels, formed from a point of centre, fashioned from the inside out, and ultimately transformed through fire.
