Our porcelain collection shifts and evolves as we seek out rare and exceptional pieces, both antique and modern, sourced from across Asia. Our Johannesburg collection is extensive and well worth a visit for collectors, antique dealers, or anyone with an eye for beauty and an interest in ceramic history. Porcelain has been made in China since the Tang Dynasty (618 to 906 AD), and when it first reached Europe around the 15th century, it was so prized that antique wares were often mounted in silver and gold. Glazes are still painted by hand today using simple bamboo brushes and the same expressive brushstrokes used centuries ago, in many of the same towns of manufacture.
